Even if that's not the case, I will continue to work on a cure or at least a way to better treat my symptoms. That way, I will be better able to help uninterrupted with everything that is dream gate and dream energy related.

Now this might be a strange question, but... [well he's the god of death. usually when people die they stay dead unless a certain professor turns them into a zombie. so naturally he's a bit concerned.]

How do you feel mentally? You're human and the notion of death is much different than someone like me. Having now returned back to life... I just want to know how you are.

[it's also because he is definitely getting a different sense from her soul, which he did do a quick check on to make sure it was all right after the, ah, transition. so physically it seems healthy but there is something different about it. it seems...hollow. colder.]

...Me? [ She watches him carefully. Well, yes, she knows that he's a god of death and can only assume that he has a sense of righteousness about it, too. Which is why she's not going to be saying much on how she plans to go about things now. ]

I feel... tired, simply put. It's a bit exhausting-- I think the dying process took more out of me than actual death.

I would imagine so. [small pause.] Most of those who have returned from life suffered some trauma from the experience of death. However, most of those were traumatic, especially when they were killed. But they were able to return to their lives well enough.

I just want to tell you that what you experienced isn't part of the natural order. You should take this opportunity to appreciate that you have this second chance, and I also tell you to not think of this as some means to risk your life haphazardly.

Of course. I wouldn't let another chance of life go to waste.

Anyway, you wanted to know what transpired, correct? I took a group into Noctaerium and we were able to investigate a few of the research facilities. We also encountered some Nocturne members and we have a few in holding for interrogation.

[ It's an expression!! Also good the conversation is steering away from that. ] What did you find in their facilities, and have you gotten any information about those who have been captured?

[soulsymmetrical]

Quite a number of things. As Tom suspected, they have been using the facilities to continue their work. In many ways it was similar to Nitiri's old work, as there was evidence of new breeds of noctaere being created. However, there was also some data regarding nightmare and dream energy. We couldn't process it, but we brought back everything we could. Tom and Ryan are looking into it now, but I brought you a copy of the notes and a jump drive of the files.

As for the interrogation, nothing yet. They're as stubborn as they were the first time.

[ Hmmm. ] More data is always good, but it's not the best thing when we don't know what to do with it. If the dream energy and that data was mostly used to create more nightmare creatures, then it might not necessarily be fit to help our issue with the dream gate.

Perhaps I'll try speaking with one of them, once I'm able to leave here.

I'm not sure, so we'll only be able to tell after it's been processed. But this was mostly an investigation to see what they were doing. As much as I hate to say it, now is not the time to deal with any potential local problems.

If you've done a preliminary glance at the data, was there anything new or striking that appeared?

Not that I could tell. Ryan would be better able to tell you.

[ She opens the files. ] I suppose I'll have to sift through all this data while I'm here, then...

Maybe we'll find something more helpful this time, but maybe instead it would be worthwhile to ask those we've captured what this all means. That is, if they don't lie about it.
